Required notices for emotional support animal items

California (Health and Safety Code 122317)

The item does not entitle an emotional support animal to the rights and privileges accorded by law to a guide, signal, or service dog. Knowingly and fraudulently representing oneself to be the owner or trainer of any canine licensed as, to be qualified as, or identified as, a guide, signal, or service dog is a misdemeanor violation of Section 365.7 of the Penal Code.

Arkansas (Ark. Code 20-14-1002)

The item does not entitle an emotional support animal to the rights and privileges accorded by law to a service dog. Misrepresenting an animal as a service animal may subject an individual to a civil penalty under § 20-14-310.

Louisiana (R.S. 46:1976)

The item does not entitle a support animal to the rights and privileges accorded by law to a service dog. Misrepresenting an animal as a service dog may subject an individual to a civil penalty pursuant to R.S. 46:1977.

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, an emotional support animal is not a service animal and has no right to enter stores, restaurants or other places that do not allow pets. Airlines may treat it as a pet.
